Feld am See (750m above sea level) is a pleasant small village by a lake, surrounded by mountains. It is popular with tourists, located at the edge of the Nockberge national park, and just a short distance away from Bad Kleinkirchheim (1000m above sea level), a well-known World Cup ski resort with thermal baths that also offer spa treatments. Feld am See has a tobacco shop collecting post, hotel restaurants, a cash machine, a beach, tennis courts, a sports school offering a wide range of sporting activities, courses and rental equipment (windsurfing, yachting, biking incl. e-bikes, inline skating...), horse riding facilities and a fish farm where you can not only buy fresh fish specialities but also catch your own fish.

In summer, influenced by the northern Adriatic climate, the area around Feld am See with its high mountains and many lakes is a paradise for those who enjoy alpine hiking, cycling, mountain biking, riding an e-bike (rentals and recharging stations at almost every hotel), swimming and water sports (incl. yachting, windsurfing, diving , leisure boats etc.), horse riding, playing tennis and fishing (either in lakes or at the fish farm in Feld am See) and there is a very nice golf course on the outskirts of Bad Kleinkirchheim. There are also many tourist attractions in the area for the whole family, such as animal and themed parks. Last but not least, various festivals and celebrations (such as the Feld am See fish festival, pancake festival, folk costume parade, parish fairs) and concerts are organized during the summer season.

In winter, Feld am See affords fantastic skating either on its frozen lake or at an ice rink in nearby Radenthein, and there are several well-known ski resorts, of which the closest (ca 10mins by car) and the best known is the Bad Kleinkirchheim-St.Oswald Ski Arena that offers about 100kms of perfectly maintained ski pistes, one of which is the famous Franz Klammer Abfahrt, a Ski World Cup downhill & super G piste. There are plenty of ski rental services in the resort, where you can hire equipment for skiing, snowboarding, sledging and skating, and of course ski schools for adults and children from the age of 3. After being on a ski slope for most of the day, you can relax in one of the two thermal baths (Römerbad, St. Kathrein) with indoor & outdoor swimming pools with a water temperature of about 34°C, saunas and all kinds of massage.
